Sunita Tools Limited’s subsidiary, Tripathi Aerotech & Weapons Systems Pvt Ltd, has secured a major Letter of Intent (LOI) to supply 155mm M107 Empty Artillery Shells. The LOI mandates the production of 100,000 pieces annually, with the first supply contingent on trial sample approval.
The LOI was awarded by a major defense supplier and represents a significant milestone for the company. Tripathi Aerotech has eight months to establish large-scale manufacturing capabilities, although initial supplies can be delivered from its current facility.
This achievement follows Sunita Tools Limited’s acquisition of a majority stake in Tripathi Aerotech (formerly Shigna Industrial Corporation). The acquisition enhanced Sunita Tools’ financial and technical eligibility to participate in large-scale defense projects, including artillery shell manufacturing.
“This strategic move aligns with our vision to expand in the aerospace and defense sectors,” said a spokesperson for Sunita Tools Limited. “It not only leverages our 36 years of expertise but also positions us to meet the growing demand for defense and artillery components in India and globally.”
