PM Modi Unveils Ken-Betwa River Linking Project and Green Energy Initiative
Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the Ken-Betwa River Linking National Project in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh. This landmark initiative is India’s first interlinking of rivers project under the National Perspective Plan. It promises to transform Bundelkhand by providing irrigation for 10 districts in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, drinking water for millions, and over 100 MW of hydropower.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated the Omkareshwar Floating Solar Project in Khandwa district, marking a significant step toward green energy. The solar plant will reduce carbon emissions, conserve water, and contribute to India’s net-zero goals by 2070.
In a tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his 100th birth anniversary, PM Modi laid the foundation for 1,153 Atal Gram Sushasan buildings. These structures aim to strengthen local governance and foster rural development. He also released a commemorative stamp and coin in Vajpayee’s honor.

Addressing the gathering, PM Modi highlighted his government’s focus on water security, good governance, and tourism development. He emphasized the significance of connecting rivers like Ken and Betwa, a vision rooted in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s foresight.
The event also spotlighted Madhya Pradesh’s tourism potential, with investments in eco, heritage, and wildlife circuits. PM Modi underscored the transformative impact of these projects on employment and local economies.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed his commitment to making Madhya Pradesh a leading economy, with Bundelkhand playing a pivotal role in India’s development story.
