The Ministry of Textiles has greenlit 12 new research initiatives under the National Technical Textiles Mission, valued at INR 13.3 Crores. This announcement came after the 10th Mission Steering Group meeting, led by Union Minister of Textiles Shri Giriraj Singh.
These research projects, proposed by prestigious institutions including IITs, NITs, and CRRI, target advancements in geotextiles, sustainable and smart textiles, and composite materials.

With this latest addition, the Mission now supports a total of 168 research projects, collectively worth approximately INR 509 Crores. Shri Singh encouraged increased industry participation, highlighting new Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) guidelines that aim to bolster local R&D in high-performance fiber technologies.
The National Technical Textiles Mission aims to transform India’s textile industry by fostering innovation and research capacity, essential for the country’s advancement in technical and high-performance fibers.
