The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has sanctioned ₹1255.59 crore for the construction of the Northern Patiala Bypass, a 4-lane access-controlled road. This project is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion in Patiala and boost the movement of goods across the region.

Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, made the announcement on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter). The new 28.9 km bypass will help complete the ring road around Patiala. Its main goal is to ease the city’s traffic woes by offering an alternative route for vehicles.
