Ahmedabad, 27th December 2024 – Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ), India’s leading transport utility company, has placed India’s largest order for tugs under the government’s Make in India initiative. The ₹450-crore deal with Cochin Shipyard Ltd will deliver eight 70-tonne bollard pull tugs, expanding Adani’s fleet to 152.
The tugs will enhance safety and efficiency at Indian ports, aligning with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision. Delivery begins in December 2026, with completion expected by May 2028. This collaboration reflects Adani’s confidence in Indian public sector units and commitment to boosting local manufacturing.

Previously, APSEZ ordered two tugs from Cochin Shipyard for Ocean Sparkle Ltd, deployed at Paradeep and New Mangalore ports ahead of schedule. Three more tugs are under construction, further modernizing the fleet.
