The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has started building a new parking and patient waiting lounge at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. This project, which will cost Rs. 11.73 crore, is part of AAI’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The Bhoomi Poojan ceremony took place on October 17, 2024, with senior leaders from both AAI and AIIMS present.
Improving Patient and Attendant Experience
The new facility will be located near Gate No. 2 at AIIMS. It will help reduce congestion and provide comfortable waiting areas for the families and attendants of patients. It will also offer parking for 55 cars, making it easier for visitors to find space.
Key Features
Spanning over 1,650 square meters, the ground floor will cover 850 square meters. It will include a waiting hall, reception, and parking area. The first floor, covering 800 square meters, will have space for 470 people, vending machines, and washrooms. The facility will also have modern amenities like:
- Food and coffee vending machines
- A helpdesk for inquiries
- TV screens to provide updates and entertainment
- An announcement system for important information
- A feedback system for addressing public concerns
- CCTV cameras for security and an ATM

Focus on Sustainability
The project will include solar panels to reduce energy use, aligning with AAI’s commitment to sustainable development. The construction is expected to be completed within the next 12 months.
