November 12: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has secured a significant contract from NTPC Ltd. for the development of the 3×800 MW Telangana Stage-II Supercritical Thermal Power Plant. This landmark project marks a continuation of the strong partnership between the two state-run giants, further enhancing India’s energy landscape.
BHEL will be responsible for a comprehensive scope of work, including design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, commissioning, and civil construction for the main plant package. The company has already received a Limited Notice to Proceed (LNTP) from NTPC to begin preliminary engineering for the power plant’s development.

This successful bid highlights BHEL’s leading role in India’s energy sector, with the company having contributed over 57% of NTPC’s thermal power installations across the country. With over 168,000 MW of utility power capacity installed, BHEL is pivotal in fortifying India’s energy security and advancing the nation’s goal of achieving self-reliance in the power sector.
