The Indian government has approved two major railway projects worth Rs 6,798 crore. These projects aim to improve transportation, reduce logistics costs, and lower pollution. They will also provide better connectivity to remote areas and create jobs.
Key Railway Projects
The first project involves doubling railway tracks between Narkatiaganj-Raxaul-Sitamarhi-Darbhanga and Sitamarhi-Muzaffarpur, covering 256 kilometers. This will improve connections to Nepal, North-East India, and border regions. It will benefit both passengers and freight trains.
The second project is the construction of a new 57-kilometer railway line between Errupalem and Namburu, passing through Amaravati in Andhra Pradesh.
Employment and Economic Benefits
These projects will generate direct employment for about 106 lakh human-days. They will also improve supply chains, increase line capacity, and help streamline logistics, boosting economic growth in the region.

These projects cover eight districts across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Bihar, expanding Indian Railways by 313 kilometers.
PM-Gati Shakti Plan
These railway projects are part of the PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan for multi-modal connectivity. This integrated planning aims to create seamless movement of goods, services, and people across India.
In summary, the two railway projects approved by the government will not only enhance connectivity but also boost local economies, create jobs, and contribute to India’s climate goals.
