Cabinet Approves 28 New Navodaya Schools
The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved 28 new Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVs) for uncovered districts in India. These residential schools provide quality education from Class VI to XII, benefiting rural students under the Navodaya Vidyalaya Scheme.
Rs. 2,359 Crore Investment for New Schools
The government allocated ₹2,359.82 crore for the project over five years, including ₹1,944.19 crore for construction and ₹415.63 crore for operations. Each school will accommodate 560 students, benefiting 15,680 children in total.
Employment and Local Opportunities
The establishment of these NVs will create 1,316 permanent jobs and generate temporary employment during construction. Local vendors and service providers will also gain opportunities, such as supplying essentials and services.

Advancing NEP 2020 Goals
Designated as PM Shri Schools, NVs align with the National Education Policy 2020, promoting inclusive, modern education. Over 42% of NV students are girls, with significant representation from SC (24%), ST (20%), and OBC (39%) communities.
Outstanding Academic Performance
Navodaya students consistently excel in CBSE exams, competing with the best across India. Many have succeeded in fields like engineering, medicine, and civil services, bridging the urban-rural educational gap.
