TCS Extends Partnership with SPARSH to Modernize Defence Pension Services

A Three-Year Collaboration to Benefit Over 30 Lakh Defence Pensioners in India

TCS Strengthens Defence Pension System with SPARSH

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has extended its partnership with SPARSH (System for Pension Administration – Raksha) for three more years. This initiative continues to provide efficient and transparent pension services for over 30 lakh Indian defence pensioners, cutting costs and enhancing service delivery.

Streamlined Pension Disbursement Process

Since 2020, TCS has revolutionized pension processing for defence personnel. The time for processing pensions has dropped from 12-18 months to just 14 days, with first-time payments now processed within five to seven days.

One Rank One Pension (OROP) Implementation

TCS has played a pivotal role in implementing the OROP scheme, ensuring uniform pensions for personnel of the same rank and service length. OROP disbursement times were reduced to just two weeks, benefitting 1.8 million pensioners in record time.

Government Savings and Efficiency

By centralizing the pension process and eliminating bank charges, SPARSH has saved the Indian government ₹250 crore annually. The system’s success highlights TCS’ ability to drive large-scale digital transformation.

Looking Ahead

The renewed partnership will see TCS maintain and upgrade SPARSH’s systems, ensuring continued efficiency. Plans for new digital solutions, including reverse payment mechanisms, are under discussion, reflecting TCS’ commitment to innovation and nation-building.
