Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh – On October 2, 2024, Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a groundbreaking project in Laltipara, Gwalior: India’s first self-sufficient gaushala equipped with a state-of-the-art Compressed Biogas (CBG) plant. This initiative exemplifies the “Waste to Wealth” vision by transforming cattle dung and organic waste into eco-friendly fuel and manure.
Operated by the Gwalior Municipal Corporation, the Adarsh Gaushala houses over 10,000 cattle and produces two tons of Bio-CNG daily. The plant also generates 10-15 tons of organic manure, aiding sustainable farming.

Developed in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation, the Rs 31-crore project spans five acres. It processes 100 tons of cattle dung and organic waste daily, reducing carbon emissions and fostering a cleaner environment.
The plant’s success showcases effective collaboration between the government and society, creating local jobs and empowering farmers with affordable organic inputs. This pioneering model is a beacon for sustainable development across India.
