JSW Steel Italy SrL, a subsidiary of India’s JSW Steel Ltd., has signed a pivotal Commercial Agreement with Metinvest Adria S.p.A. This development builds upon the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Ministry of Industries and Made in Italy (MIMIT) earlier this year.
Under the agreement, Metinvest will pay a release fee of €30 million to JSW Steel Italy Piombino SpA, paving the way for the transfer of property rights. Completion hinges on Metinvest meeting specified procedures with government bodies within a set timeframe.

This move is a significant step toward implementing the Accordo Di Programma (Program Agreement). The collaboration focuses on modernizing the Piombino Rail Mill, including upgrading rolling mills, adding a hardening facility, and increasing rail lengths to 120 meters.
JSW Steel and MIMIT’s partnership aims to revive Piombino as a major steel hub. This initiative reflects JSW Steel’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and strengthening industrial infrastructure in Europe.
