PM GatiShakti Network Planning Group Assesses Rail, Road Infrastructure Projects
In a recent session, the 85th meeting of the Network Planning Group (NPG) evaluated five major infrastructure projects under the PM GatiShakti initiative. This assessment focused on two railway and three highway development projects, with the goal of enhancing multimodal connectivity, improving trade efficiency, and addressing regional socio-economic challenges. These projects are expected to play key roles in the country’s logistics, reducing travel times, and boosting industrial growth.
The meeting was chaired by Dr. Surendra Ahirwar, Joint Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), and involved discussions on the strategic benefits of these projects for India’s infrastructure landscape.

Key Projects Discussed:
- Dangoaposi – Jaroli 3rd & 4th Line
Spanning across Jharkhand and Odisha, this 85.88 km project aims to enhance the transportation of iron ore and other bulk commodities like coal and fertilizers. It will improve connectivity between the Keonjhar region and Paradip Port, driving industrial growth in Eastern and Northern India. - Burhwal – Gonda Kacheri 4th Line
This 55.75 km rail line in Uttar Pradesh will boost passenger and freight traffic, enhancing connectivity across key districts and facilitating faster movement of goods like coal and steel. The project strengthens regional logistics and trade links, particularly with Northeast India. - Barabanki-Bahraich Highway
The 101.54 km NH-927 corridor upgrade will expand the road into a 4-lane and 6-lane structure, improving connectivity across Uttar Pradesh. This project will ease access to Lucknow, Shrawasti Airport, and the India-Nepal border, unlocking significant economic opportunities. - Kanpur Ring Road-Kabrai Highway
This 118.8 km Greenfield highway will connect Kanpur Ring Road to Kabrai, integrating multimodal connectivity to major railway stations and airports. The highway is expected to significantly enhance industrial and tourism growth in the region. - Singhana-Titanwar Highway
Aimed at improving the 40.725 km stretch along NH-311 in Rajasthan, this project will ease freight and passenger movement, facilitating smoother logistics and strengthening trade between Rajasthan, Haryana, and Delhi.
These five projects align with the principles of PM GatiShakti, focusing on integrated development, enhanced connectivity, and synchronized project implementation. Once completed, they will significantly contribute to India’s goal of sustainable, inclusive development through improved infrastructure.
